Thanksgiving Cactus, Schlumbergera truncata or S. Buckleyi, is a striking plant renowned for its unique, segmented, and scalloped stems. Often called the 'Holiday Cactus,' it's an excellent choice as an indoor hanging plant. Originating from the tropical forests of Brazil, this cactus produces magnificent blooms ranging from red, white, pink, or purple, generally flowering around Thanksgiving. 

Please note, the Thanksgiving Cactus is often mistaken for the True Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera bridgesii). While they share similarities, the key distinction lies in the shape of the leaves or stem segments. The Thanksgiving Cactus, Schlumbergera truncata or S. Buckleyi, has pointed, claw-like projections on its leaf margins. In contrast, the True Christmas Cactus has rounded, scalloped edges on its stems. This differentiation in the leaf or stem segments aids in distinguishing between the two cactus varieties, helping enthusiasts accurately identify these beloved holiday plants.
